Position Details

About us

Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria (CV) and its stakeholders, and forms part of the Security and Intelligence Services. The CVIS is comprised of the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU), and intelligence officers located at the public and private prison facilities in Victoria. The CVIU is located at the Statewide Services Building, Ravenhall, Victoria.

About the role

The position of Corrections Intelligence Officer falls within the CVIU and has a primary role and purpose to provide operational support for all intelligence related matters conducted by the CVIU. The position reports to an Intelligence Manager of CVIU and will perform duties on a rostered basis at the offices of the CVIU but may be required to work from other locations if a business need arises. In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the collection, collation, recording and analysis of sensitive information relating to prisoners and CCS offenders in order to identify and prevent various issues
  • Prepare intelligence reports for senior management and provide advice based on the results of intelligence gathering, particularly in relation to the security and good order of the correctional facilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of systems to facilitate more effective and efficient collection, recording, analysis and dissemination of intelligence information.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, or the capacity to learn, computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes and internal CV computer systems
  • Knowledge of the CV system, particularly the principles and philosophy underpinning relevant legislation
  • Experience in the use of information management systems, preferably Palantir and/or other data managing technologies is highly desirable.

You must also have the ability to acquire a Negative Vetting 1 Security clearance within 12 months of taking up the position.

A tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline would be an advantage.
