Position Details

Ambulance Victoria's (AV) mission is to improve the health of our community by delivering innovative, high quality ambulance services in order to achieve Best Care for every patient, every time.  AV is currently recruiting for an experienced Rostering Manager for our Brady St location, in South Melbourne.

About the role

This permanent full time role is responsible for leading AV's state-wide resourcing function enabling effective and optimal service delivery, balancing both safety of patient care and workforce needs.  The role will oversee and lead best practice roster development and operational resource planning and deployment across AV.

Reporting to the Director Operational Logistics, the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Driving the development of operational resourcing strategies and initiatives to meet and accommodate changing workforce needs and requirements and to optimise the rostering of operational resources to meet demand
  • Strategically leading the management and oversight of AV's operational resourcing function to ensure appropriate resources are available to support and maintain service levels for a 24/7 emergency operation both in the short and long term
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders across AV, external stakeholders and staff, to capture, report and act on items of interest to AV
  • Maintaining a strong safety focus, modelling and promoting safety leadership and overseeing and driving compliance
  • Providing strong and effective leadership to the rostering team by fostering a performance based, collaborative culture focussed on continuous improvement.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in a health, logistics, business or related discipline.  You will be known for your significant industry experience gained from working in a complex health service provider or logistics environment, together with your solid organisational skills and managerial experience, preferably in the Health or Emergency Services field.  Armed with a working knowledge and solid understanding in the management of complex industrial relations and human resource issues relating to workforce planning, including relevant HR principles, legislation and regulations relating to workforce planning, will ensure success in this role. 

Finally, your strong negotiation, influencing, leadership, management and coaching skills, together with your strong business writing skills and ability to proactively identify and implement business solutions, will be invaluable. 

The salary for this position is $172,013+ 9.5% super.

The successful candidate must have a current Victorian Driver's Licence, be willing to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria when required, and undertake a National Police Check.
