Position Details

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is now recruiting for an Operations Assistant Accountant to join their Operational Business & Planning team in the Operations Logistics Division.  This is a full-time, permanent position based at AV's Blackburn North Business Centre.    

This role is responsible for assisting in the reporting and analysis of Divisional, Regional, Departmental and Projects monthly results and forecasting for AV's Operations Division (including Road Response, Air Ambulance and Operational Support functions). The role is also responsible for coordination of the annual budget. 

About the role

Reporting to the Operational and Business and Planning Manager, the main duties of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Preparation of annual budgets bids, through the compilation, validation and modelling of required information from all areas of Operations
  • Acting as a central coordination point for all Operations' budget build matters
  • Monitoring and reporting of Operations' financial performance against the approved annual budget
  • Engaging with and supporting all areas of Operations on financial reporting, governance and business process matters
  • Developing and strengthening relationships with managers and stakeholders within Operations and across all areas of AV 

About you

The successful applicant will have significant accounting experience supported by a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting.   They will have a strong understanding of accounting concepts and practices and possess a demonstrated ability to utilise a multi-function computerised financial information system, including accounting and spreadsheet packages (preferably Oracle and Microsoft Excel). 

Analytical and problem solving skills will be crucial in order to identify issues and take the appropriate course of action, as well as attention to detail to ensure accuracy in the recording of information.  Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be a great team player with excellent communication skills and a high level of integrity to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and maintain confidentiality around sensitive issues.
