Position Details

As the Senior Technical Advisor you will provide technical support to the Statutory and Technical Building Surveying team within the Office of the State Building Surveyor (OSBS). 

The team is responsible for gathering and recording on-site observations for review by a multi-disciplinary expert panel, who may provide recommendations for action by MBS, building owners and/or registered building practitioners. The role will provide high level technical knowledge and advice to support the team currently focusing on cladding rectification and other technical matters. 

This role will also be required to carry out site inspections, provide accurate reports and communicate effectively the outcomes to the MBS and Principal Building Surveyor (PBS) and other interested parties within appropriate timeframes relevant to the information gathered.

What we are looking for:

  1. Significant knowledge and application of the building regulatory framework including the Building Act, Building Regulations and National Construction Code and other relevant legislation.
  2. Highly developed conceptual and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse technical reports, provide high quality advice and develop innovative solutions.
  3. Tertiary qualifications in building surveying, engineering or related discipline is required.
  4. Eligibility for registration as a Building Surveyor or Building Inspector with experience in a Building Surveyor / Inspector role within the private or municipal environments is highly desirable.
