Position Details

An exciting role now exists for an experienced Human Resource professional with a service excellence ethos to join the People and Culture division at Ambulance Victoria (AV).   This is a full-time, ongoing position based at AV's Geelong (Belmont) headquarters and overseeing the Barwon South West and Grampians area of regional Victoria.

A relationship manager and strategy driver, the successful incumbent will be someone who can successfully execute people management plans, develop strategies and drive an internal culture of service excellence in the achievement of safe, capable, accountable and engaged workforces.

The Senior People Partner (SPP) role manages cross functional people services, including Human Resources, Health and Safety and Injury and Claims Management, determining long term business goals and gaining commitment to continuous improvement.  With between four and ten direct reports, the SPP is responsible for developing service delivery models and meeting financial, quality and time related targets for various People and Culture programs.

About the role

Reporting to the Director, People Services, the main duties of the role also include (but are not limited to);

  • Jointly achieving both Operational and People Services strategic objectives;
  • Participating in the strategic planning of end to end People Services – HR, Health and Safety, Injury and Claims Management – across the entire employee lifecycle;
  • Designing and delivering innovative People Services projects and initiatives;
  • Sharing accountability for and gaining commitment to the People & Culture strategies within the region, providing input into HR plans, projects, budgets and performance targets;
  • Proactively championing preventative strategies to mitigate risk, reduce injuries and improve both the safety and wellbeing, both psychological and physical, for staff; and
  • Leading, directing and collaboratively working with direct reports within the People Partnering team in order to achieve KPI targets and service delivery objectives.

About you

The successful applicant will have significant experience leading large-scale change programs in complex organisations, supported by a tertiary qualification in Human Resources, or related discipline.  They will be au fait with providing leadership support across metro and regional locations and will be comfortable in routinely advising senior stakeholders on general HR matters. 

Possessing high level expertise and detailed knowledge of principles and concepts in one or more of the People Services disciplines, you are experienced in providing advice to senior management on policy issues and service solutions.

You will be an exemplary communicator and will possess strong leadership skills to allow you to motivate and engage those around you and build and maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders across the business.

Candidates must be willing to travel throughout the region when required.

The successful candidate may also be required to undergo relevant security checks, such as a police record check.
