Position Details

About us

Located in the Grampians Region, HM Prison Langi Kal Kal is a male minimum security facility focused on preparing prisoners for their transition back into the community.

About the role

Reporting to the Records and Property Team Leader, the Records and Property Officer will assist in the day to day operation of the reception discharge function of the prison including prisoner records, property and clothing ensuring all electronic and paper based recording systems are up to date and accurate. Other duties will include:

  • preparing relevant documentation relating to prisoner transfer, classification, release, court appearances, bails and fines
  • ensuring the safe and secure storage of all prisoner property held in accordance with OH&S requirements and investigate, assess and respond to prisoner property claims
  • liaising with prison operations staff regarding prisoner bed vacancies and internal movement of prisoners, coordinating prisoner video conference hearings, phone link-ups, professional visits and police interviews.

This role will involve weekend work and public holidays.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • strong interpersonal skills, with the ability work effectively as part of a team
  • knowledge of OH&S manual handling processes and practices
  • knowledge of Corrections Victoria policies and practices relating to reception and discharge operations.
