About Us:
Beechworth Correctional Centre is a Corrections Victoria, minimum security prison for men, located in Northeast Victoria, within the Hume Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs, and services to ensure that safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Corrections Victoria manages Community Correctional Services locations across the state and is responsible for managing Victoria's public prisons and overseeing the contracts relating to the management of the privately operated prisons. In doing so, Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders to promote positive behaviour change and prepare offenders for release back into the community.
About the Role:
At the Beechworth Correctional Centre, each Justice Officer role specialises in one of five streams Records, Stores, Canteen, Finance and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison.
This position requires direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
Some of your duties will include:
- Greeting and liaising with clients and stakeholders and providing accurate advice and information in relation to justice services in accordance with business processes.
- Delivering justice services and maintaining accurate, confidential records and providing statistical reports in line with agreed standards and local operating procedures.
- As part of the Records team, under supervision, performing all administrative functions pertaining to Records at the Beechworth Correctional Centre.

About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Well-developed computer literacy.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
- Understanding the importance of maintaining accurate records and associated legal implications of documents handed down by the courts.
