Position overview

The VBA is entering an exciting new phase – as we expand our regulatory footprint and amalgamate with allied and complementary services in becoming the Building and Plumbing Commission.

We are also refocussing all our regulatory activities towards better consumer protections and greater support of practitioners through targeted education and engagement.

To achieve our ambitious agenda, we are seeking multiple building inspectors with unlimited registration and experience in class 2 buildings, to join our highly valued, skilled and experienced team; so, we can expand our reach and support the quality and quantity of sustainable housing that is built to last.       

As an inspector you be at the frontline of practitioner compliance, working on a variety of projects across the state. Our inspectorate is the cornerstone of our role as a regulator and underpin our key objective to continue to build trust among Victorians  as consumers in the building industry. This is a rare opportunity to join an organisation at a pivotal time in building regulation and be part of a groundbreaking program of change and growth.   

What we are looking for:

  • Experience conducting site-visits, inspections and audits of building work across all stages of construction and occupied buildings under section 204A of the Building Act 1993.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Building Regulatory Framework contained in the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, and the National Construction Code.
  • Ability to communicate information efficiently and effectively to internal and external stakeholders over the phone, in person and in email.
  • You must have a current unlimited registration and experience in Class 2 building inspections.
