POSITION SUMMARY:

Principal Solicitor

The Principal Solicitor is a key senior role in the Corporate Legal Advisory team, within the Legal, Privacy and Integrity Branch. It will provide authoritative, timely and practical legal advice and take the lead on a variety of legal projects including strategic priorities for the department.

This role requires a strong commercial law background, with IT and property law experience being advantageous. Government law experience would also be beneficial.  This role will involve a wide variety of work including the provision of timely advice and preparation of high-quality written contracts and briefs on the relevant areas of law, corporate policy, property law and contractual issues. The role may also be required to manage general litigation and oversee the drafting of legislation and regulations. It will also be required to prepare Ministerial correspondence, Cabinet submissions and other written reports and briefings to clients.
