The Commission is an independent statutory body that promotes improvement in policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and young people. It has a particular focus on vulnerable children and young people. The Commission is also the regulator for the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme. Mandatory Vaccinations The Commission is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its workers and stakeholders. Employees will be required to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus a minimum of one booster) against preventable diseases, such as COVID-19, based on Victorian Chief Health Officer’s Directions and the Commission’s policies. Position Details

The Senior Policy Analyst is part of the Commission's Analysis and Strategy team, which has a range of functions, including policy advice and advocacy, data analysis and reporting, and oversight and monitoring of services including youth justice custodial services and out-of-home care services.

The Senior Policy Analyst reports to the Team Leader, Analysis and, with the Team Leader, delivers the policy advice and advocacy function.


In this role you will:

  • provide high-quality advice and analysis for the Commissioners on policy, laws and programs relating to Victoria's children and young people, in particular those experiencing vulnerability
  • develop and coordinate strong, evidence-based policy submissions
  • identify and report on best practice developments in relevant policy, practice and services, and opportunities for the Commission to advocate for policy, practice or service improvements in Victoria
  • support the Team Leader to deliver the team's policy functions and collaborate with colleagues in the Analysis and Strategy team and across the Commission
  • work with young people on the Commission's Youth Council to inform policy submissions, advice and analysis, and promote children and young people's voices and experiences in the Commission's work.
