Located in Ararat, Hopkins Correctional Centre provides medium security accommodation for prisoners with protection requirements. The prison balances community protection with prisoner rehabilitation and the need to reduce reoffending.
About the role
A great opportunity now exists for a dynamic individual to join our suuportive team as a Records and Property Officer.
In this role, you will be required to liaise with a high volume of both internal and external stakeholders in relation to prisoner appointments, assessments and court appearances. You will assist in the day-to-day operation of the reception discharge function of the prison including prisoner records, property and clothing whilst ensuring all electronic and paper based recording systems are up-to-date and accurate.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for the preparation of routine correspondence and reports, assist in a range of corporate services areas as required and ensure the safe and secure storage of prisoner records and all prisoner property held in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements (including the investigation, assessment and response to prisoner property claims).
As our ideal candidate, you will:
possess strong interpersonal skills
have a proven ability to work as part of a team
be highly organised.
Knowledge of OH&S manual handling process and practices and knowledge of Corrections Victoria policy and practice relating to reception and discharge operations would be highly desirable, however full training will be provided to the successful applicant.
