Position Details

  • Utilise your administrative expertise to provide support and advice to Corrections Victoria at Langi Kal Kal Prison
  • An ongoing, part-time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service
  • VPS Grade 2: $60,295 - $77,430 plus superannuation.

About the Business Unit:

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the implementations of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum-security men's protection prison located 140km west of Melbourne at Trawalla. The prison's primary purpose is to prepare male prisoners for transition, reintegration, and release. As a working farm with eight separate industries, there is a strong focus on employment, training, and work readiness.

About the Role:

The Archivist is responsible for managing the prison records in accordance with DJCS Records Management Policy, Records Management Procedures and other governing policy and procedural guidelines

Some of your duties will include:

  • Under direction, developing and maintaining the safe and secure storage of a range of paper-based records in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
  • Creating a master record register to record all archived material, location, and disposal information
  • Contributing to the ongoing development, implementation, and maintenance of records management procedures and processes within the Precinct.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in records management frameworks
  • The ability to cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals while sharing information and acknowledging others' efforts and being step in to help others where required
  • An understanding of how own work is part of a system that connects to and interacts with other processes, people and structures.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Nil qualifications required, however, knowledge or experience in records management is desirable.
