Position Details

About us

Marngoneet Correctional Centre (Marngoneet) is a medium security prison in the Barwon South West Region. It currently houses up to 577 male prisoners. In October 2014 it was announced that an expansion to Marngoneet would occur and the Karreenga facility was built alongside it which accommodates 300 medium protection prisoners.

About the role

At Karreenga the Industry Officer will be responsible for the meat production packaging, quality, storage and distribution of product, which is then distributed throughout the Victorian prison kitchen network. This role will play a significant and important role in training and assessing prisoners in relevant accredited trade skills units according to the specific work environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • supervising the operational aspects of the Karreenga Industries to achieve commercial production targets and customer expectations, maintaining control of stock, materials, and providing an industry model workplace training environment
  • leading and managing the Karreenga Industry area to ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff and any visitors
  • training, supervising and supporting staff in all aspects of prison industry operations including prisoner training and assessment, case management, program and service knowledge and involvement, maintenance of professional boundaries and contribution to prison and prison industry security management procedures.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have experience in food processing or manufacturing.  You will have strong communication skills, with the ability to actively support others and provide opportunities and practical assistance in developing their skills and capabilities.
