  • Annual Salary Range: $102,637 - $124,183 per annum plus superannuation
  • Tenure: Fixed Term (3 years)

About the Team

The Rolling Stock Development (RSD) Division falls under the Network Design and Integration Group which transforms network strategies and plans into deliverable transport solutions.

This Division is focused on the development and growth of the Victorian rolling stock industry, and integrates the key activities of network planning, operator management, industry engagement and rolling stock procurement.

 

About the Opportunity

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for technical input into a variety of Rollingstock Projects including but not limited to manufacturing of new rollingstock and the life extension of older rollingstock. This role is required to employ a diverse set of skills and subject matter expertise to contribute to the successful project delivery that contributes to maximising value for money for the State.

The Senior Electrical Engineer is also responsible for managing issues relating to rolling stock systems design, interfacing requirements, and standards compliance in addition to custodianship of engineering subject matter expertise and management of interfaces with both internal and external stakeholders.

 

What we're looking for

  • An electrical engineering degree qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience in the procurement, design, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, acceptance and general engineering project management tasks relating to rolling stock will be well regarded.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in the discipline of rolling stock engineering and demonstrated experience with technical standards and constraints of the existing Victorian rolling stock types and networks.
  • Relevant experience in application of systems thinking and system engineering in an engineering environment.
  • The ability to identify potential technical issues, propose risk mitigation actions and to research, document and report on technical matters pertaining to proposed solutions.
  • Experience in a vehicle engineering, rolling stock or transport engineering environment.
  • Possess a high standard of interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly in a complex and demanding environment that has competing priorities and the need to meet urgent deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve, communicate and report authoritatively on complex technical issues verbally and in written form to non-expert audiences.

 

Desirable

  • Membership with Engineers Australia with Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status would be highly regarded.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a field of relevance to engineering or rolling stock projects would be highly regarded.
