About the Team

The Contract Variations Team is a newly formed team reporting into the Executive Director, Metropolitan Trains. With the Victorian Big Build Program ( well into rolling delivery, the team is tasked with overall responsibility for the commercial and fiscal impacts of changes to the to the Train and Tram network as a result of this Program and well as other asset and operational related projects.

About the Opportunity

The Contract Variations Manager reports into the Senior Commercial Manager – Contract Variations and will assist in the management of the Contract Variations Program. The Program encompasses the evaluation and assessment of all contract variations and commercial claims under the various franchisee agreements (eg Train and Tram). 

About You

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Strong commercial analysis and/or costs estimates/quantity surveying modelling experience.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills – Resolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines. Where guidelines are not available, analyses ideas available and takes action through self, or in consultation with others to resolve problems. 
  • Data Literacy Skills – Considers data sources, collection and structure impacts in the delivery of data analysis. Generates descriptive statistics and relevant data visualisation leading to decisions under the guidance from subject matter experts. Ability to utilise advanced excel formulas, pivot tables and generation of data charts is required.
  • Business and Commercial Acumen – Understands associated costs of operations and seek efficient ways of operating. Where external vendors are involved, ensure good understanding on engagement terms and hold parties involved accountable in delivering against agreement.
