  • VPS6: $127,467 - $170,579 per annum plus superannuation

About the Division

The Project Design branch in the Network Design and Integration Division aims to deliver transport priorities through the development and delivery of an integrated pipeline of projects and supports the Major Transport Infrastructure Program.

About the opportunity

The Manager, Design Coordination is responsible for the provision of expert engineering advice and services for the Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA) and other delivery agencies and operators on behalf of the Department of Transport (DoT). The role will be working on the North East Link Project (NELP). 

Position Outcomes

  • Manage engineering input for significant, multi-disciplinary, integrated, complex, high value and high-profile capital investment projects and programs. 
  • Provide technical expertise with a commitment to delivering excellence in projects.
  • Lead and coordinate engineering change management ensuring effective solutions are implemented.
  • Support and monitor project stages to identify risks and issues to network integrity at the relevant governance groups.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A thorough understanding of the role of the manager, design coordination in the development and delivery of complex, highly integrated projects.
  • Lead negotiations and influence key stakeholders to resolve conflicting objectives using highly developed written and verbal communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project delivery excellence through governance and oversight of major, complex investment projects to agreed project life cycle processes and best practice project management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring team members and influencing cross discipline teams across organisations to resolve complex project issues.
