About the Team

The Rolling Stock Development Division falls under the Network Design and Integration Group which transforms network strategies and plans into deliverable transport solutions.

The Rolling Stock Development Division supports the delivery of new rolling stock, major refurbishments and upgrades, while supporting local jobs and industry.  The division provides advice on rolling stock, related infrastructure, and systems to ensure Victoria's fleets meet current and future requirements

The Industry Engagement team is part of the Industry Engagement and Capital Projects group. It supports all manner of transport related projects with a particular focus on rolling stock manufacture and maintenance.

 

About the Opportunity

The Senior Advisor, Government and Industry Liaison is responsible for engagement strategies for the development of the Victorian rolling stock industry and supply chain which includes advice concerning high value and complex rolling stock procurement.

This role will work closely with government agencies such as The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions, The Office of the Lead Scientist, Invest Victoria, Global Victoria, The Department of Transport Communications and Public Affairs branch and the external market.

The role will also manage and support Ministerial Advisory Committees and hold key relationships with external stakeholders to provide advice on industry matters, strategies to grow the State's capabilities and pathways that lead to investment, jobs, workforce development and innovation outcomes.

 

What we're looking for

  • Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of government processes including the roles of other government agencies
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and work productively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to think at the big picture level particularly at both a governmental and private sector
  • Strong ability to consult, liaise with and influence key stakeholders in both the public and private sector
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of complex briefs, letters, emails, cabinet submissions
  • Knowledge of the Public Sector

 

Desirable

  • A relevant tertiary degree
  • Extensive strategic engagement and communications with industry
  • Experience in scoping, preparing and delivering international trade missions, both inbound and outbound
  • Experience in a complex manufacturing sector
  • Experience working with senior levels of government
