Accepting supplementary applications for the 2022-2023 fire season!

Applications for the 2022-2023 season have now closed and the recruitment process has commenced, however we are still accepting supplementary applications that may be considered in areas where additional candidates are required.

Locations include:

  • Casterton (DELWP)

The Department of Environment Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), Melbourne Water, and Parks Victoria (PV) employ Project Firefighters annually to assist in fire management activities in Victoria's national parks, State forests and Protected Public Land.

These positions form part of a team of Forest Fire Management Victoria field staff located at more than 80 work centres across Victoria that help keep Victorians safe by reducing the risk and impact of bushfire.

Each year, we employ field based seasonal firefighters to assist with planned burning and the prevention and suppression of bushfires in parks and forests. Project Firefighters may also be called upon to support other emergencies such as flood and storm response.

These positions would suit people who have a high level of fitness, are sound decision makers, enjoy working in a team, a good thinker and problem solver, community minded and looking for a unique challenge. No previous experience in emergency response is needed - we'll teach you all you need to know!

Positions are open to people who:

  • Have a high level of fitness.
  • Are a team player.
  • Hold a current manual driver's license.

New recruits will be required to attend a minimum 2-week training camp and successfully complete the DELWP General Firefighter accreditation.

These are full time fixed term positions available for a minimum of 22 weeks (generally between November and April). There are various locations available across Victoria.

Salaries commence from $1014 per week plus superannuation.

To submit a supplementary application, click the Apply Now button and complete and submit the online application form. NOTE: As this is a supplementary application process, you will only be contacted should additional candidates be required for the locations you identified in your online application.
