The Senior Policy Officer is required to:

  • Provide timely, authoritative policy advice to deliver on the Government's transport and renewable energy infrastructure agenda.
  • Provide whole-of-department coordination and advice across government for significant infrastructure projects and the Government's infrastructure reform agenda.
  • Provide advice on State and Commonwealth environmental approvals requirements, including coordinating and supporting DELWP, industry and public stakeholders through design and planning, assessment and approvals, operation and decommissioning of state­ significant projects.
  • Prepare timely and concise responses to Ministerial Correspondence that comply with the department's standards and guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate, negotiate and build strong and effective relationships with a range of individuals and groups, clients, peers, and other government agencies to support whole-of-departmental outcomes for key projects.

We are seeking someone who is proactive, uses their initiative and works well in team environments. The work environment is dynamic and fast moving. The projects we work on are complex and often challenging. We would like a problem solver who welcomes a challenge.

The successful candidate will have a preferred background in science or engineering, broad policy experience, sound understanding of the technical aspects of a range of infrastructure projects, strong background in internal government processes, experience in working with proponents and the ability to successfully develop and coordinate input into whole-of-government processes and key reform projects across the Department.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months.
