Position Details

We are building an inclusive workplace to help realise the potential of our employees, embrace our differences, and apply our diverse thinking to innovation and delivering services to Victorian communities. All jobs can be worked flexibly and we encourage job applications from Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

We are continuing to build and enhance our highly skilled legal team in the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).  We work closely with the department's 6 functional groups to support the delivery of priority policy initiatives, programs and operations to the Victorian community in a way that both optimises success and minimises and mitigates risks for government.

Our staff do this through combining deep expertise in the making and operation of government legal frameworks with a customer-centric approach to service excellence based on close collaboration, listening and understand objectives and challenges, to enable us to provide practical, solution-focused advice and legislative solutions.

You have a great deal of energy and passion for delivering results that matter and make a difference for the state of Victoria and in the lives of Victorians. You will be a great fit for this role as you bring your customer focused mindset in all that you do, working as part of a broader corporate support team that takes pride in providing effective, valuable support to the organisation.

Your work style naturally lends itself to contributing to an inclusive, positive and team-oriented workplace culture that is collaborative, professional and engaged. You want to be a part of a high performing team that you have contributed to.

Your technical legal skills are recognised by your peers, colleagues and managers to be of a high standard, and you are willing to utilise these well-honed skills and develop further in this role.

We welcome applications with "general all-rounder" legal experience, but you must have solid experience with administrative law and some capability in commercial work and litigation management.  Legislation experience is desirable but not essential.  Previous in-house or government experience is also desirable, but not essential.

This is an ongoing position.

To be considered for this position, your application should include a supporting statement demonstrating that you meet the key selection criteria and any job requirements specified in the position description.

Applications close at midnight, Sunday 17 February 2019.
