Position Details

About us

The Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC) is a 560 bed medium- to maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.

The Corrections Intelligence Service, DPFC, is responsible for gathering, recording, analysing and disseminating information, to identify potential prisoner incidents/unrest, prevent prisoner escapes, and prevent the introduction and usage of contraband within the prison.

About the role

This new ongoing position reports to the Supervisor, Prison Intelligence Unit and will contribute to both tactical and strategic intelligence functions, and analyse and present intelligence information to management and authorised persons/external agencies as required.

In this role you will be responsible for mentoring and coaching staff in the Intelligence role and meeting the writing and reporting standards set by the Intelligence Manual. You will work closely with the PIU Supervisor to consider risks and possible intervention for any current or potential security risks. Other main responsibilities include: 

  • working dynamically and cohesively with a range of staff and prisoners to identify targeted hot spots and emerging patterns and trends within the prison environment. 
  • reporting on patterns of violence and drug use with the prison and identifying themes and possible interventions 
  • preparing a range of Intelligence related documents for a variety of audiences
  • reviewing and actioning Intelligence information in a timely manner 
  • identifying Intelligence gaps and provide support and guidance to Intelligence officers in looking at the "bigger picture" 

About you

 To thrive in this role you will:

  • have experience in delivering both tactical and strategic intelligence functions in a correctional or law enforcement setting
  • knowledge of contemporary principles and practises that apply to intelligence functions within the criminal justice system and across intelligence agencies
  • have knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986 and Corrections Regulations 1998

Training in Centurion Level 1 and 2, Introduction to Analysis, Advanced Analysis, and Investigative Interviewing is desirable.
