About the Team
The Area Manager role is part of a new office-based Congestion Management team in the Transport Operations Centre that will develop and implement an Area Management operating model and framework for real time management of the transport network, leveraging over 1,000 new ITS assets, new data and analytics for network performance insights, and a new situational awareness system and common operating picture.
About the Opportunity
As part of the Congestion Management team, the Area Manager will lead a deputy Area Manager, and be responsible for analysing, reporting and improving Network Performance in a dedicated geographical area of Metropolitan Melbourne (approximately 300km2), designing and directing operational and tactical interventions for implementation, and evaluating their effectiveness.
About You
- Demonstrated ability to develop policies, programs and initiatives that impact on transport programs or major functional areas, with the ability to interpret and apply policy frameworks and make decisions in the absence of definitive operational policies or guidelines.
- Strong change management abilities to actively promote and drive change initiatives, effectively identifying and responding to new and emerging strategic issues impacting on the operating environment.
- Highly advanced communication skills to proactively engage and influence stakeholders, effectively managing competing priorities and views, confidently conveying highly complex concepts, ideas and issues in a variety of styles to a wide audience, including senior and executive leadership. Proven ability to routinely provide authoritative advice to senior stakeholders on complex policy and operational issues that is relied upon in decision-making, with the ability to identify emerging risk and devise and implement robust mitigation solutions.
- High level technical expertise, with the ability to develop technical or professional standards for the organisation, provide subject matter expertise and contribute to the strategic planning and decision-making process.
