About Us:

The Barwon South West Region (BSWR) provides justice services from Justice Service Centres in Geelong and Warrnambool, and through reporting centres in Colac, Hamilton, and Portland.

About the Role:

The Justice Officer - Casual is an entry-level position to a career in Corporate Services within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). The Justice Officer – Casual, may provide a range of functions across the Prisons Precinct including processing of prisoner monies, operation of the prisoner shop, ordering stock and stock management, facilitating goods inwards and outwards, and general administrative tasks.

This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve occasional weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.

Some of your duties may include:

  • Contributing to the efficiency of the administrative function through actively contributing to business improvement initiatives.
  • Performing accounts functions overseeing the administration of prisoner private monies in addition to accounts payables, receivables, reconciliation, data entry, and reporting.
  • Monitoring and liaising with customers, administrators, and prison staff on relevant issues pertaining to finance and stores.
  • Assisting in operating the Prisoners' shop and updating prisoner records on SPEND and other systems as required.

About You:

As an ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Well-developed computer literacy skills.
  • proficiency in the use of software and standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Forklift licence preferred but not essential.
