About us:

State Library Victoria is the State's premier reference and research library, the hub of state-wide information and communication network, and a gateway to the world's information. The state Library is Australia's busiest public library with a collection of over 4.9 million items, and a diverse range of exhibitions and programming, inspiring possibilities for all Victorians.

About the role (position description is attached):

As curator, you will be responsible for the curation and delivery of interesting and intriguing storytelling.  Working with our designers, you will co-create exhibition experiences focused on engaging visitor journeys.  The Library is currently in the middle of the Vision 2020 project which will transform the library, Australia's oldest and busiest public library, into a contemporary and exciting cultural institution.  Working with the curatorial team and Lead Curator, the expectation is that this role will curate and deliver world class exhibition experiences.

This role works within the Exhibitions team to research, develop and curate exhibitions as required within the timeframes and budgets of the Library's Exhibition Program.  This includes working closely with other key Library branches, external stakeholders and contractors directly involved in each project and associated activities. At times, this position may be required to support the work of guest curators and subject matter specialists, including researching, developing and actualising exhibitions for the SLV exhibitions program.

How to apply:

A merit-based selection process applies to all Library roles. Applications including a resume and statement addressing the Key Selection Criteria should be submitted online by visiting State Library Victoria https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/about-us/work-with-us or www.careers.vic.gov.au.

State Library Victoria promotes a workplace that actively seeks to welcome and value the unique contributions of all people. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, and people of all ages and abilities to apply for this role.
