About the Library:

State Library Victoria is one of Victoria's pre-eminent cultural institutions and a leading library of the world. Through our unique collections and wide-ranging services, we are central to the cultural life and economy of Victoria.

The Library boasts more than ten amazing function and event venues. These spaces, built throughout the Library's rich history, showcase three centuries of architecture and host the Library's unique and vast collection. The Library's diverse spaces, collections and experiences offers unparalleled capacity to respond to complex client briefs, helping to create unforgettable events.

Recent winners of MEA's Unique venue with accommodation (2016 and 2017) and RACV's Tourism Award (Cultural Category), the Library is poised for significant growth across events and general visitation supporting the extended commercial tenancy operators.

The Library has embarked on a five-year redevelopment project, Vision 2020 that will transform our public spaces and events facilities to better meet the changing needs of the community. The project will see the addition of commercial kitchen facilities, a redeveloped Ian Potter Queens Hall and two new dedicated events venues. Aligned with the Vision 2020 redevelopment, the Catering contract is being renewed and a Café is being added to the Russell Street Welcome Zone.

About the role:

This new role is positioned within the strategically focused Commercial Team which delivers comprehensive contract management, partnering opportunities and commercial event experiences whilst improving financial returns for all stakeholders.

The Business Development Coordinator, will ensure that a consistent and high quality sales experience is delivered by the contracted Catering Service Provider's onsite sales team as well as undertaking broader business development projects which will support the venue and catering sales as well as positioning the Library and its tenancies as a food and beverage destination. This role will also align all marketing activities of the Catering Service Provider with the Library's Brand.

The ideal candidate will come from a leadership or project management role within a sales and marketing or business development environment from within the events and/or hospitality industry. This is an incredible opportunity for a passionate professional to position one of Australia's leading cultural institutions as an event destination.
