The Information Security Advisor will develop and strengthen the department's information security posture through strategic contribution, interpret legislative and policy requirements to provide expert advice on information security, conduct information security threat and risk assessments, manage and report on information security incidents. Perform technical and compliance assessment of information security and cyber security controls and produce compliance status reports to internal teams and to relevant external organisations.

The successful candidate will need to have a relevant Information Security certification (i.e. CISM, CRISC, CISA, CISSP) or an ICT tertiary qualification. Alternatively, an excellent working knowledge of relevant information security standards and its applicability, including but not limited to: AS/NZS ISO/IEC 27000 series, Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Victorian Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014, Victorian Protective Data Security Framework, AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 and HB 231:2004. Extensive work experience in building and implementing frameworks and operating procedures for information security and risk management as well as experience assessing and reporting on information security and IT security threats, vulnerabilities and risks
