A nationally significant initiative by the Victorian Government to assess the feasibility of rehabilitation options for the Latrobe Valley's coal mines. The role will make a key contribution to project management, procurement and technical analysis and reporting as the program moves toward delivery of the Regional Water Study in March 2019 and the Strategy in June 2020.

The Senior Project Officer will coordinate technical tasks to develop the Regional Water Study, including the assessment of water resources and environmental issues in the Latrobe Valley that may affect the viability and potential impacts of rehabilitation options.

The position is based in Melbourne CBD and will require occasional travel the Latrobe Valley, including the potential for overnight stays and after-hours work.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of and experience in water resources and water resource management (surface water, groundwater, impacts), preferably in relation to mining and/or in a Victorian or Latrobe Valley context, and tertiary qualifications in science or other relevant discipline.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 2 years ending 30 June 2020.
