Senior Scientist Ecological Modelling to support the implementation of Protecting Victoria's Environment – Biodiversity 2037 and other biodiversity projects through further development of the Strategic Management Prospects (SMP) decision support approach.  SMP integrates a range of information to estimate management effectiveness across species, actions and locations, and applies conservation planning principles to identify cost-effective options for biodiversity management across Victoria.

The successful applicant will require knowledge and capacity to apply statistics, machine learning and programming to find informative patterns in large ecological datasets and generate information products that are appropriate for applied ecological management. Demonstrated capacity to apply statistics, machine learning and programming to find significant patterns in large ecological datasets and generate fit for purpose information products that are appropriate to be applied in on-ground ecological management. A science degree (preferably PhD) with a major in ecology or equivalent is mandatory.

This is a fixed term – flexible position for a period of 2 years
