The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has a vacancy for a Project Officer to be a part of DELWP's Forest, Fire and Regions Policy branch, within the Policy and Planning Division. The division is an important part of DELWP's Forest, Fire and Regions Group, playing a key role in enabling DELWP to efficiently, effectively and safely meet its forest, fire and emergency management responsibilities.

The Project Officer is responsible for the development, maintenance and communication of operational frameworks and guidance for forest, fire and emergency management. This includes the translation of policy, strategy and the department's legislative accountabilities to support operational program delivery.

The role requires an individual with strong project management skills, who can effectively communicate, negotiate and build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will also have good analytical and problem-solving skills, who enjoys working through complex issues.

It is desirable that the successful candidate have tertiary qualification(s) in science, engineering, law, economics, public policy, natural resource or environmental management, business management or similar.
