This is an exciting opportunity to lead a substantial, dispersed, high-performing team to deliver integrated forest, fire and emergency management operations on public land across the Gippsland region.

As Assistant Chief Fire Officer, you will lead a team of up to 500 people during peak periods, across 19 work centres, working with local communities, and other parts of government to deliver a broad range of programs in the region's forests and parks – including emergency response, planned burning, compliance, roading, recreation and cultural heritage management.

Reporting to the Executive Director Forest Fire Operations / Chief Fire Officer and one of six ACFOs across the state, you will lead Forest Fire Management Victoria in the region and will have a key role in implementing Safer Together, Victoria's risk-based approach to fire management to reduce the impacts of fire on people, property and the environment.  Building genuine partnerships and collaborating with land and emergency management agencies, as well as Traditional Owners and other key stakeholders is a key aspect of the role.
