As a Fire Lookout Observer, your main responsibility is the detection and monitoring of fires to determine location, size, fire behaviour and monitoring planned burning operations. You will be a key contributor to the ongoing effectiveness and output of the Fire District and will be involved with departmental personnel, contractors and other Fire Lookout Observers. Interaction with members of the community is also a key function of Forest Fire Management.

Experience in Radio Transceiver Operations using DELWP radio equipment and communications procedures including Trunked Mode operations and the “Check” System are required, along with safe and effective manual vehicle driving skills with training and experience in 4WD, defensive driving, and minor vehicle maintenance is desirable.

This is a casual position for the 2017/2018 fire season.
