The Project Officer supports the Rural Water Policy and Programs division and reports to the Senior Manager, Sustainable Irrigation. This role will work within enthusiastic and dynamic team and with a range of stakeholders and communities to facilitate the development and delivery of innovative and outcome focussed projects relating to irrigation drainage, salinity and sustainable irrigation. They will also support partners and communities to make informed decisions, improve irrigation efficiency and reduce the environmental impacts of irrigation and influence the delivery of Water for Victoria's chapter 4 "Water for Agriculture".

The Project Officer will need to have strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills. The role will work very closely with irrigation stakeholders to optimise the efficiency irrigation and reduce environmental impacts of irrigation. Key activities for the Project Officer will include project management, policy development, providing authoritative advice and guidance to stakeholders, and active participation in industry and community committees.

The successful candidate will possess a tertiary qualification in science, hydrology, natural resource/environmental management and/or engineering. Highly desirable, they will also demonstrate experience in the Victorian water industry or natural resource management.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 2 years.
