Position purpose

The Geodetic Data and Applications Officer provides technical support to the Geodesy Section in the management of data, metadata and applications associated with Victoria's geodetic infrastructure. Through the application of skills in surveying/geodesy and information technology, the role contributes to the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the Survey Marks Enquiry Service (SMES) application and Web services, the continual review and update of survey control information, and the provision of user support.  The role will also include routine geodetic data processing and analysis using techniques such as high-precision GNSS. 

This position offers a unique opportunity for growth and development in geodesy and positioning. Applying knowledge and experience in survey measurement and uncertainty, GNSS and geodesy, the successful applicant will maintain the Survey Marks Enquiry Service (SMES) which provides access to reliable, accurate and up-to-date survey control network information. The role will also perform high-precision GNSS data processing, network adjustments and data analysis.

Recognising the specialist nature of the role, the position offers a unique opportunity for growth and development in geodesy and GNSS. As such, the position can be filled at either the VPS Grade 3 or VPS Grade 4 level according to the capability and experience of the applicant.
