ABOUT THE POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to provide support for the management of Museums Victoria's health and safety systems.
The position is accountable for providing timely, professional advice and services to ensure that Museums Victoria effectively manages health and safety risks and supports a culture of safe work across the organisation.
Some of the key duties include:
- Supporting the implementation of the Health and Safety Management System (HSM), including undertaking investigations, incident follow-up, preparing reports and developing processes that enable managers to fulfil their health and safety responsibilities
- Providing practical, risk-based advice to assist managers and staff with the selection and implementation of appropriate risk controls
- Coordinating responses to incident reports and working with key stakeholders to convey specialist knowledge and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Assisting in the design and delivery of occupational health and safety (OHS) related training across the organisation
- Assisting in the development and implementation of risk registers and/or risk assessments, including delivery of related training to relevant staff
- Providing advice and recommendations on the development of OHS policies, procedures and opportunities to improve work practices that encourage and support a culture of safe work
- Assisting the OHS team with the implementation of departmental safety initiatives aligned with goals and objectives in the OHS business plan
- Coaching and supporting managers and staff to effectively meet their health and safety responsibilities
- Complying with Museums Victoria's policies, procedures and relevant legislation
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of health and safety and knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, regulations, compliance codes and government policies
- Highly developed communication skills, including the ability to advise and liaise with all levels of staff and build strong relationships with stakeholders to achieve health and safety objectives
- Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities within a diverse organisation and maintaining confidentiality when responding to sensitive matters
- Experience working with electronic database and information management systems
- Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes
- Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a team environment
OTHER INFORMATION
This is a Full time, ongoing position. The salary on offer is a VPS4.1 Base salary of $97,955 per annum (pro rata) plus 12% superannuation.
The successful applicant is required to undergo a National Police Records Check and Working with Children Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost).
