Vocational Services Supervisor
- Lead a small team to run programs that build skills and wellbeing.
- Help shape a modern prison focused on learning and rehabilitation.
- Create varied daily activities, from fitness sessions to cultural events.
- Make a real difference by preparing people for life after custody.
- Ongoing, full-time role earning $97,955 – $111,142 per year, plus super.
The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a vocational services supervisor to work out of Western Plains Correctional Centre in Lara.
What you will do
As the vocational services supervisor, you will help people in custody build skills and confidence for life beyond prison. You will lead a small team to deliver programs that support learning, wellbeing and personal growth through recreation, education and work.
You will:
- Lead and support recreation and vocational services staff to run programs that improve physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
- Plan, organise and supervise safe and engaging recreational, cultural and sporting activities.
- Develop and review programs that build work readiness and help people prepare for employment and community life.
- Make sure safety procedures are followed and equipment is used correctly in line with OHS standards.
- Work closely with staff, contractors and community partners to improve services and increase participation.
About you
A relevant tertiary qualification or proven track record in the delivery of recreation and events is desirable.
You should also have:
- Experience running recreation and fitness programs for different groups and working well with a range of staff and partners.
- A good understanding of how correctional centres operate.
- Experience managing people, resources and workloads to make sure programs run smoothly.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to support and motivate others.
