Senior Engineer / Senior Technical Officer -  Road Design (West) & (East)

  • VPS4: $88,955 - $100,930 per annum plus superannuation

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Team Leader Road Design, the Senior Engineer/Senior Technical Officer - Road Design sits within Engineering and is responsible for the delivery of road design services, primarily using Bentley Systems Microstation and InRoads for concept, functional and detail road design, including (but not limited to) 2D layouts, 3D modelling and drainage design, of road projects across the state.  Other services may include road design reviews (both internal and external to DOT) and providing innovative thinking and sound technical advice to design related matters. The Senior Engineer/Senior Technical Officer - Road Design will manage projects under limited supervision to ensure the delivery of road design services and advice within agreed timeframes and budgets. The role will also contribute to capability development of others in the team, has a strong emphasis on knowledge sharing, and requires a close working relationship with the Team Leaders to ensure project and team goals are successfully met. 

Critical to the role will be the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and key clients including Department of Transport's Transport Services and Major Transport Infrastructure Authority and meet agreed budgets and timelines.

Qualifications (Mandatory)

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Relevant experience in road design
  • Experience in relevant CADD software preferably Bentley Systems' ProjectWise, MicroStation & InRoads
  • Knowledge of AustRoads Guides & DoT Supplements, Safe Systems Principles, VicRoads Final Drawing Guidelines

Desirable  (Desirable)

  • Experience in the MicroStation Connect Edition & OpenRoads is highly desirable.
