About the Division

Assets and Engineering is a division of Network Design and Integration and is responsible for enabling DoT to effectively plan, deliver and maintain a safe, resilient and fit-for-purpose Victorian transport system through trusted, systematic and disciplined technical excellence.

About the opportunity

The role is responsible for leading the development of funding submissions for investments in sustainment of the rail networks – heavy and light rail; leading from a technical perspective the provision of oversight and asset management advice for maintenance and renewals programs developed by asset stewards.

Position Outcomes

  • Asset Strategies – Provided asset management leadership and specialist technical input to the development and upkeep of long-term strategic asset planning for the rail networks. Key rail asset strategies for system, asset class and critical assets are in place.
  • Sound Funding Submissions – Provided asset management leadership and specialist technical input for the development of funding submissions for investments into rail network sustainment. Funding submissions are clear, comprehensive and reflect strategic priorities as articulated in asset strategies and express the priorities of the network.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Strategic Planning (Accomplished) – Coaches others and engages key stakeholders in strategic planning process. Thinks at the whole of system level and undertakes internal and external scanning, considering wide ranging possibilities in developing a vision for the future; Translates strategic direction into team and individual plans and daily activities for self and others.
  • Future Focus (Applied) – Develops objectives that link to broader team and organisational objectives; Takes into account future aims and goals of the team and organisation in prioritising own and others' work. Integrates relevant technologies into own ways of working and supports others in this. Proactively stays up to date with best practice and leading developments relating to expertise and area of work.
