Position Details

Agriculture Victoria Services Pty Ltd (AVS)

AVS was established by the Victorian Government in 1986 to provide a commercial interface between its agricultural research and development activities and the private sector.

Today, AVS is widely recognised for protecting and commercialising technologies generated by the Agriculture Victoria Research Division (‘AVR') of the State of Victoria's Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (‘DEDJTR').

Activities undertaken by AVS on behalf of AVR include:

  • Protection and management of intellectual property (IP) generated from R&D projects.
  • Commercialisation of AVR-created IP to deliver industry and economic benefits to Victoria.
  • Technology assessment and economic value modelling of AVR innovations for establishing invention value propositions for private sector partners.
  • Negotiation and establishment of collaborative R&D agreements with the private sector.
  • Investment of company funds to accelerate market delivery of AVR technologies to farmers.

The company is governed by a skills-based board of six (6) directors appointed by the State of Victoria's Minister for Agriculture.

The Commercialisation Manager role requires a capable and skilled commercialisation specialist with relevant experience in:

• IP landscape analysis for guiding IP protection, commercialisation and management strategy

• Economic or financial value modelling of technology inventions or IP licence rights

• Negotiating commercial IP licence agreements or contractual R&D arrangements.


The role requires relevant qualifications in business and/or science and/or IP law.
