Are you an experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioner looking for a rewarding role in a supportive and progressive regional health service? Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) is seeking a dynamic clinician to join our Emergency Department team in a 14-month parental leave position, commencing January 2026.

Contract: Fixed-Term, Part Time, 64.0 hours/fortnight. Parental Leave Cover (January 2026-March-2027)

About the Role:

As an Endorsed Nurse Practitioner, you will provide expert emergency care to varied patient cohort, working collaboratively within the Emergency department and engaging with a broad multidisciplinary team. You will operate in a largely autonomous fashion and will also have ample opportunity to contribute to the advancement of nursing practice through evidence-based care, clinical leadership, and quality improvement initiatives.

About the Emergency Department:

Our ED serves the Bairnsdale and East Gippsland region and sees approximately 23000 patient per year. The Department offers trauma and emergency care and is supported by a 5-bed Short Stay Unit and a dedicated fast-track area for NP-led care. The team includes ED SMOs, HMOs, interns, VMOs, and a dedicated group of Nurse Practitioners — a rare and valued feature in regional EDs — fostering a collaborative, educational, and supportive environment.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a dedicated NP team with strong peer support and built-in mentorship.
  • Enjoy broad clinical exposure across all emergency care areas, not just fast track.
  • No overnight shifts — enjoy work-life balance in a high-impact role to enjoy East Gippsland's beautiful lifestyle.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Qualifications & Registration: Current AHPRA registration with Nurse Practitioner endorsement and a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (or equivalent).
  • Emergency Nursing Expertise: At least 5 years' postgraduate experience in emergency nursing, with demonstrated advanced clinical skills, ALS accreditation, and triage competence.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead change, mentor colleagues (including NP candidates), and work both autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Clinical Excellence & Safe Practice: Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centred care, safe prescribing practices, and continuous professional development.

Please refer to the position description for the full selection criteria.
