STATUS:            2 x Part Time, Fixed Term Positions

DATES:              4/06/18 – 2/12/18 and 11/06/18 – 5/11/18

HOURS:             48.0 hours per fortnight each

DEPARTMENT:  Tambo Medical/Surgical Ward


Two great opportunities exist for skilled nurses to join our dedicated team of health professionals for a fixed term in our new Tambo Medical/Surgical ward at BRHS.  These roles will be providing coverage for team members on long service leave.

The newly built Tambo ward will contain 34 beds with a 4 bed higher acuity area and 2 bariatric beds.  The unit will provide care for a large spectrum of medical conditions and post-operative care for gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT, general surgery patients.  The ward also has facilities for cardiac monitoring via both mobile telemetry units and fixed monitors.  This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a new facility and enjoy being part of a dedicated team with involvement in the set up and development of the department. 


To be successful for this role, applicants will have:

  • Minimum 12 months recent acute nursing experience
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills with the ability to apply the escalation of care principles.
  • Excellent care planning skills with a good understanding of and commitment to providing patient centred care with a compassionate approach.
  • A well-developed understanding of discharge planning and transition of care issues so as to achieve safe and timely discharge.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Medical/Surgical Nursing an advantage.
  • CVAD competencies or commitment to attain.
  • BLS certification required, ALS an advantage.
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to utilise key principles to ensure a good clinical handover and escalation of care.
