Midwives

 Casual and Fixed Term roles

We are currently seeking qualified and experienced Midwives to join our teams in the Rotamah Midwifery Ward and/or Team Midwife setting to provide safe midwifery care that achieves quality maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Rotamah is a 17 bed Midwifery, Paediatric and General Medical ward, providing a diverse mix of patient care requirements.  Midwives, Registered and Enrolled Nurses work together to provide excellent care for the whole client cohort, with midwives providing the majority of maternity care.   Our Team Midwives work under a Collaborative Model of Maternity Care providing an accessible service from our CBD clinic.  As a primary midwife, you will oversee the planned care of the client and enable a collaborative relationship between the midwifery team, GP and the client.

The ideal applicants will demonstrate:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife. 
  • Recent experience in a range of midwifery settings
  • Proven competency in all areas of the pregnancy and birth care as well as proven ability to operate confidently across antenatal, intra-partum and post-natal services.
  • Competence in general clinical nursing with a good understanding of and commitment to providing patient centred care
  • An understanding of legislation relevant to midwifery practice
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to problem solve, apply the escalation of care principles and be able to facilitate the escalation of care process
  • Qualification as a Lactation consultant would be well-regarded
