Position Details

A great opportunity exists for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our committed Pharmacy team in this part time role at BRHS.

The BRHS Pharmacy Department provides a comprehensive pharmacy service to all areas of the health service as well as supplying medication and support to external clients including smaller hospitals, bush nursing centres and community health centres in East Gippsland.

The Pharmacy Technician will support BRHS pharmacists in the supply of medications to the hospital wards and to individual patients as well as assisting in the provision of pharmacy services to external centres.  Key duties will include performing computerised pharmacy stock management and dispensing processes, performing imprest ordering, collation and unpacking and participating in rotational stock taking and order preparation. 

Applications for a Grade Two or Three position will be considered. Grade Two technicians will be encouraged and offered an opportunity to complete the Certificate IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) course.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Health and Support Services (Hospital Pharmacy Technician)
  • Minimum 2 years pharmacy experience
  • Proven ability to perform efficient and accurate stock and imprest management
  • A good working knowledge of PBS and the legal requirements regarding medication
  • Good time management skills with the ability to be flexible and prioritise tasks as needed
  • Well-developed computer skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Outlook) and Pharmacy software
  • Highly developed professional communication and customer service skills
