Position Details

2 x Ongoing Part Time positions - 48 hours hours per fortnight

Applications are invited from Registered Nurses who are passionate about cancer care nursing to join the BRHS Oncology Unit. 

These roles provide a great opportunity to use your critical thinking and assessment skills and increase your knowledge within Oncology nursing.  Previous experience in day chemotherapy and education in Oncology nursing is preferred but applications will also be considered from candidates with a desire to gain skills and knowledge in this field.  

The successful applicants must be committed to undertake post graduate study in cancer care nursing within 2 years of commencement and work towards demonstrating excellence in this specialty field.

The Oncology Day Unit provides care to patients in association with the visiting Oncologist and Haematologist and other medical officers. Care includes administration of systemic anti-cancer therapies, blood products and other supportive intravenous therapies. This incorporates management of all intravenous access devices, education and ongoing management of treatment side effects for patients and families. The Unit currently operates in a clinical capacity from Tuesday to Friday.

We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled nurses with:

  • A minimum 1 year of recent acute nursing experience
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills
  • Well-developed clinical assessment skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to meeting the special needs of those undertaking cancer and medical infusion treatments
  • Demonstrated self-directed learning in cancer care would be an advantage
