Position Details

As the largest healthcare provider in East Gippsland, Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) provides services to a rapidly growing population.  The BRHS Medical Department provides services across a broad spectrum of care, including a newly built Medical/Surgical ward containing 34 beds, 2 bariatric beds and a 4 bed High Dependency Unit opening shortly.  The unit provides care for a large spectrum of medical conditions and post-operative care for gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT and general surgery patients.  The ward has facilities for cardiac monitoring via both mobile telemetry units and fixed monitors.  Local rural generalists, staff physicians and visiting specialists all provide a range of medical services through the General Medical team.

In this role you will provide high quality assessment and care to inpatients under the direction and supervision of the staff Physicians.  Caring for a broad range of low and high acuity medical patients in conjunction with the multidisciplinary health team, you will rapidly expand your knowledge and skill level.

Minimum criteria:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent)
  • General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (and AHPRA) or eligibility for limited or provisional medical registration (supervised practice and postgraduate training)
  • Competence in advanced life support techniques, advanced paediatric life support techniques and advanced airway management
  • At least 2 years postgraduate experience in clinical medicine including significant experience in General Medicine
