Position Details

Applications are invited from experienced Registered Nurses who are passionate about cancer care nursing to join the BRHS Oncology Unit in this fixed term role.

The role provides a great opportunity to use your critical thinking and assessment skills and increase your knowledge within the domain of Oncology nursing.  Previous experience in day chemotherapy and education in Oncology nursing is preferred but applications will also be considered from candidates with a desire to gain skills and knowledge in this field.  

The Oncology Medical Ambulatory Day Unit (MADU) provides care to patients in association with the visiting Oncologists. Care includes administration of chemotherapy and related agents. This incorporates management of all intravenous access devices, education and ongoing management of treatment side effects for patients and families. The Unit currently operates in a clinical capacity from Tuesday to Friday.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled nurse with:

  • A minimum 1 year of recent acute nursing experience
  • Previous experience in day chemotherapy desirable but position offers an opportunity to learn
  • Cannulation and CVAD competencies desirable but mandatory to develop and maintain
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills
  • Well-developed clinical assessment skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to meeting the special needs of those undertaking cancer and medical infusion treatments
  • Demonstrated self-directed learning in cancer care an advantage
