HOURS:  64.0 hours per fortnight


A unique opportunity has arisen at BRHS for an experienced Nurse Practitioner (or Candidate) to provide Emergency Nursing clinical leadership in our Emergency team.  The incumbent to this senior nursing position will enjoy a rewarding role comprising autonomy and challenge.  In addition to this, you will relish living in a beautiful part of Victoria and achieving a fantastic work/life balance!  

This position is responsible for providing emergency care to select groups of patients within a framework of clinical practice guidelines and in collaboration with Emergency Medical Officers and key support staff.  At BRHS, the Nurse Practitioner is recognised as an expert practitioner and clinical leader with advanced knowledge, skills and recognised competence. The Nurse Practitioner will be supported to explore the boundaries of nursing practice through the use of evidence based and best practice literature and facilitate professional development and influence policy within the domain of Emergency nursing.

The Emergency Department of BRHS provides trauma and emergency healthcare to the people of Bairnsdale and the wider East Gippsland region. The department includes a 5 bed Short Stay Unit (SSU) which receives Emergency Department flow through, Mobile Ambulatory Day Unit (MADU) infusion patients and a fast track treatment area.


For this role, you will need:

  • Endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner (or evidence of commitment to obtain) from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in emergency nursing
  • Masters of Emergency Nursing or equivalent
  • Current competence in Advance practice nursing including Advanced Life Support
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical leadership with advanced knowledge and skills in Emergency nursing
  • Demonstrated experience in measuring and improving clinical outcomes
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
  • Evidence of strong commitment to person-centered care
  • Proven ability to identify professional development needs and facilitate appropriate education for team members
