Associate Nurse Unit Manager

STATUS: Ongoing, Part Time
HOURS: 48.0 hours per fortnight

A great opportunity exists for an experienced Dialysis Nurse with excellent leadership skills to join our Dialysis leadership team.


The BRHS Dialysis Unit assists local and visiting renal patients in maintaining quality of life by receiving haemodialysis in a modern and friendly environment. The BRHS Dialysis Unit currently has a nine chair capacity and operates six days a week with both morning and afternoon shifts. Our dialysis department is a satellite unit of Austin Health; it is serviced by two visiting Nephrologists and provides support for home dialysis patients in the region (peritoneal and haemodialysis).


This position will support the Dialysis Nurse Unit Manager by providing support and leadership to team members and ensuring best practice nursing care is delivered. This role will enable you to progress your nursing career as part of an enthusiastic and supportive leadership team. The successful applicant will be required to work a variety of shifts.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • A minimum of three years recent clinical experience in Renal Dialysis nursing with a good understanding of and commitment to providing patient centred care.
  • Experience in team leadership and care co-ordination.
  • A Post Graduate qualification in Renal Nursing (or working towards) is highly desirable.
  • Current competence in accessing and de-accessing PICCs and Ports.
  • Advanced clinical assessment and care planning skills including a good understanding of principles of escalation of care.
  • A demonstrated understanding and ability to facilitate patient flow.
  • Well-developed decision making skills with the capacity to determine the best course of action in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to remain flexible, open and composed in difficult situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to display compassion and communicate effectively with a range of people.
