Position Details

STATUS: Ongoing, Part Time,

HOURS   48.0 – 64.0 hours per fortnight

 A skilled Registered Nurse with surgical and/or theatre experience is sought to join our dedicated Perioperative team in this ongoing role.

This role will enable you to enjoy a range of Perioperative work providing you with job variety and the opportunity to develop your skills in a variety of Perioperative areas.  These may include PACU, Scrub/Scout, Endoscopy, Pre Admission Clinic, and Day Procedure Unit. 

Our Perioperative suite comprises Pre Admission Clinic, Day Procedure Unit, and two well-equipped operating theatres with state of the art operating equipment.  Our theatre attracts high calibre specialists which enable us to provide a variety of specialty services including Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT and General surgery.

The Perioperative unit offers a friendly team environment with a comprehensive orientation process in addition to strong professional development support.  To be considered for this position, applicants must be able to work both 8 and 10 hour shifts and have a commitment to being part of the on-call team.

Successful applicants must demonstrate:

  • Minimum of 2 years acute nursing experience
  • Competence in acute nursing including an understanding and experience in clinical handover, escalation of care, care of the unconscious patient and patient education
  • Some experience in Surgical or Perioperative nursing
  • A surgical conscience in all aspects of the perioperative work environment, in particular standards relating to infection prevention
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Good level of knowledge of IT systems
  • Post graduate certificate in Perioperative Nursing would be an advantage
