Position Details

STATUS:           Part Time, Parental Leave until 23/08/20

HOURS:            32.0 hours per fortnight

DEPARTMENT:   Rotamah Medical/Paediatrics/Midwifery


An enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse is sought to join our Rotamah nursing team in this fixed term role.  This is a great opportunity to gain further experience and skills caring for general medical and paediatric patients and secure regular hours.  Applicants must have excellent clinical assessment and care planning skills and a minimum of 12 months recent acute nursing experience.  

Rotamah is a 17 bed Midwifery, Paediatric, Palliative and General Medical ward, providing a diverse mix of patient care requirements. Patient care is provided by a skilled nursing and midwifery team and is well supported by Medical, Allied Health and Ancillary staff.  Midwives, Registered and Enrolled Nurses are responsible for specific divisions of the ward but also work together to provide care for the whole client cohort.   

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  • Excellent clinical assessment skills with the ability to apply the escalation of care principles.
  • Excellent care planning skills with a good understanding of and commitment to providing patient centred care with a compassionate approach.
  • A well-developed understanding of discharge planning and transition of care issues so as to achieve safe and timely discharge;
  • Proven capacity to work in an effective and collaborative manner
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to utilise key principles to ensure a good clinical handover and escalation of care.
  • A sound understanding of key elements of OH&S and risk management and how they relate to the acute setting in nursing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to effectively manage conflict
  • A willingness to adapt to a constantly changing environment with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
