HOURS:                      48.0 hours per fortnight

The Position:

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide coordination and leadership for our SSU and help achieve effective patient flow through the SSU. As an integral member of the Emergency team, you will take responsibility for day patients and their treatments providing excellence in nursing care.  

The Team:

The BRHS Emergency Department provides trauma and emergency healthcare to the Bairnsdale area and the wider East Gippsland region. The department includes a 5 bed Short Stay Unit and an Emergency Nurse Practitioner operating out of a fast track treatment area.  A high dependency unit operates within the Medical/Surgical ward providing additional opportunity for skill growth.

What you need:

  • Minimum 3 years acute nursing experience, BLS and Advanced Life Support Certificate
  • Competency in PICCS and PORTS and triage training experience or commitment to obtain
  • Demonstrated competence in Acute Nursing with a good understanding of referral systems, patient flow & discharge planning
  • Demonstrated competence in the administration of infusions and transfusions to both elective and emergency patients.
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to utilise key principles to ensure a good clinical handover, accurate and thorough documentation and escalation of care.
